What is Drive?
Drive is the place in Luminous where your files and documents live in folders. This includes images, PDFs and contracts. It was previously called File Cabinet.
Availability: Drive is turned on per account. You also need a role with the permission to view Drive. If you don't see Drive in the main menu, ask your Luminous administrator.
Where to find it
- Click Drive in the main menu, just below Action Center.
- Or open global search (Ctrl K) and type "drive", "files" or "file cabinet".
Browse your files
The left-hand panel has these views:
- My Drive: the top level of your folders. Folder names appear in a path at the top (for example My Drive > Spring), so you can click back up to any level.
- Recent: files you have used lately.
- Starred: items you have starred.
- Shared with me: items other people have shared with you.
- Expiring soon: files with an upcoming expiry date.
- Trash: items you have deleted. You will only see this link if you can make changes in Drive.
Folders can be restricted. A restricted folder is marked with a lock. My Files is your own private folder. It always appears first at the top level, and it is not shown with a lock.
Long lists: if a folder has more items than fit on the page, click Load more.
Find a file
- Search: press / to jump to Drive search.
- Filter chips: narrow what you see with these chips.
- Type: PDF, Document, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Image, Video, Audio or Archive.
- Modified: Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This year, or a custom date range.
- Tags: pick a tag. Only the tags already in use are listed.
- People: find a person by name; it filters to files they added.
- Click Clear filters to reset all the chips.
Organize your files
- Create a folder or upload: use New folder, File upload or Folder upload in the left panel. You can also right-click empty space in a folder for New folder.
- Rename, move, star or trash: right-click an item, or select it and use the selection bar.
- Star items: starred items collect in the Starred view.
- Delete: Move to Trash (or the Delete key) sends the item to Trash. Trash items are permanently deleted after 30 days. Items that Luminous manages for you, such as My Files and order folders, can't be renamed, moved or trashed.
- Tags: add tags in a file's details so the file can be found with the Tags filter.
