Overview
When Luminous automatically creates an Assembly Order or Disassembly Order from a Sales Order (for example, via the assembly-on-demand or kit-disassembly workflow), it records the originating Sales Order as the Source Sales Order on the Assembly Order.
This link is visible on the Assembly Order detail page and survives any subsequent edits to the order.
Finding the Source Sales Order
- Open the Assembly Order (navigate to Assembly Orders and click the order number, or follow a link from the Sales Order).
- On the detail page, look for the Source Sales Order field in the order header section.
- Click the order number link to navigate directly to the originating Sales Order in Posted Orders.
Note: The Source Sales Order field only appears when the Assembly or Disassembly Order was auto-created from a Sales Order. Assembly Orders created manually (not triggered by a Sales Order) will not show this field.
Which creation paths are covered?
The Source Sales Order link is stamped automatically for all four auto-creation paths:

Frequently asked questions
Will the link be lost if I edit the Assembly Order? No. Editing an Assembly Order (changing quantities, BOM, location, status, etc.) preserves the Source Sales Order link. Only the original auto-create path can set it; no edit operation can overwrite or clear it.
Can I manually set or change the Source Sales Order link? No. The link is set automatically at creation time and cannot be changed through the UI or API. It reflects the Sales Order that triggered the auto-creation.
What if the Assembly Order was created manually (not from a Sales Order)? The Source Sales Order field will not appear on the detail page. This is expected — manually created Assembly Orders have no originating Sales Order.
