Overview

The Transit Time Matrix is a settings table that maps destination warehouse + freight mode → calendar days. Once lanes are configured, any purchase order that has a requested pickup date, a destination warehouse, and a freight method will have its Original ETA filled in automatically.

Where to find it

  • Go to Inventory → Inventory Admin → Transit Time Matrix.
  • You can also type "transit" in the global search bar.

Access requires Admin or Super Admin role.

Adding a lane

  1. On the Transit Time Matrix page, click Add lane.

  2. Fill in the form:

    FieldRequiredNotes
Destination warehouseYesThe warehouse the goods are shipping to
Origin warehouseNoLeave blank to match any origin; set a value to make this lane more specific
Shipment typeYesAir, Sea, Road, Rail, or Express
Calendar daysYesTotal days from pickup to arrival (0–3650)
Snap weekend arrivals to next weekdayNo (default: on)When the calculated arrival falls on Saturday or Sunday, bumps it to the following Monday
  3. Click Save.

Each combination of destination warehouse + shipment type + origin is unique. If you try to save a duplicate, the system will warn you.

Editing or deleting a lane

  • Click Edit on any row to change its days, snap-weekend setting, or origin.
  • Click Delete to remove a lane. Existing purchase orders that already have a stamped Original ETA are unaffected — the date is frozen at the time of first calculation.

Lane matching rules

When Luminous looks up a lane for a purchase order it matches on:

  1. Destination warehouse = PO's destination warehouse
  2. Shipment type = PO's selected freight method
  3. Origin warehouse = PO's origin (if the PO carries one), falling back to the lane with no origin set

If no lane matches, the Original ETA is not auto-calculated. The empty-state message on the matrix page lists which fields a PO needs before a lane can match.

Tips

  • Set up one lane per mode you actually use (e.g., Sea → 45 days, Air → 7 days) before your team starts creating POs — lanes take effect immediately on new POs.
  • If a specific origin/destination pair regularly has a different lead time, add a lane with that origin filled in; it will be preferred over the catch-all lane with no origin.
  • Per-PO overrides (set on the PO itself) let buyers bypass the matrix for a single order without touching these settings.
