Replace in Listings moves everything that decides which SKU incoming channel orders land on, from one SKU to another, in one step. It is turned on per account. If you don't see it, ask Support to enable it.
What it does not do: it does not convert a product between BOM and kit. You create the replacement SKU yourself. It also doesn't change either SKU's type, stock, BOMs or kit items, and it doesn't change existing order lines.
Before you start
- Create the replacement SKU (for example, the new kit). It must be active.
- If the old SKU shares its name with the new one, rename the old SKU first (for example to
<SKU>_BOM). On accounts that re-match listings by SKU, a listing still named after the old SKU would be matched back to it on the next product sync, and Luminous will refuse the move. - You need full access to SKUs.
Steps
- Open the old SKU’s page and click the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose Replace in Listings. It’s just below Edit SKU.
- In the Replace with field, search for the replacement by SKU or name and select it.
- Review the preview:
- Channel listings: account, listing SKU and product. Listings marked inactive are ones removed on the channel for now.the account, listing SKU and product for each listing. Listings marked “(inactive on the channel)” have been removed on the channel for now.
- Listing overrides: per-channel overrides.
- Alternate SKUs: alternate SKUs on the old SKU.
- Open order lines: these orders keep their product. Edit them on the order if they should ship as the new SKU.
- A warning appears if some listings supply warehouse stock. Moving them shifts that stock to the new SKU on the next stock sync.
- Click Move to . Until you pick a replacement, the button reads Move to selected SKU. It stays disabled until the preview loads, and while the preview shows a reason it can’t move.
All references move together. The move is recorded on the SKU’s Change Log tab, under Product Changes. Each listing appears with its account and listing SKU, for example Channel listing #189 Shopify Test · Test_5: Test_5 → KB-TEST-KIT.
When Luminous refuses
- The replacement is missing, inactive or deleted, or is the same SKU.
- No channel listings, listing overrides or alternate SKUs point at .
- More than 200 references in total. Ask Support to move them.
- An alternate SKU already exists on the replacement.
- An alternate SKU has a unit conversion rule. Remove the rule or move that alternate SKU by hand.
- A listing would be re-matched back to the old SKU on the next sync (see above).
- The references changed while you were reviewing. Nothing moved. Open the preview again.
