Overview
The Drop Ship Item flag lets you designate any SKU as a drop-shipped product directly on its product record. Once set, the flag is visible in the External API and importable in bulk — so your catalog always reflects which items ship from a vendor rather than your warehouse.
Option 1 — Product form (UI)
- Open the product you want to update (Inventory → SKUs → select a SKU → ⋯ menu → Edit SKU).
- On the Product Information tab, check the Drop Ship Item checkbox.
- Save the product.
The flag is toggled off by default for all existing and new products.
Option 2 — Master SKU bulk import
Add a column named IS_DROP_SHIP_ITEM to your import spreadsheet.
| Column | Accepted values |
|---|---|
| IS_DROP_SHIP_ITEM | yes to enable; omit the column or leave blank to leave unchanged |
Note: The check is case-insensitive —
Yes,YES, andyesall work. Any value other thanyes(includingno) leaves the flag unchanged when the column is present.
Proceed with your normal Master SKU import flow. The flag is applied during row insertion alongside other product fields.
Option 3 — External API
Pass is_drop_ship_item as a boolean on product create (POST) or update (PUT/PATCH) requests:
{
"is_drop_ship_item": true
}
The field is also returned on every product read response, so integrations can filter or branch on it without a separate lookup.
Checking the current value
- UI: Open the product record; the Drop Ship Item checkbox reflects the current state.
- API: The
is_drop_ship_itemboolean appears in the product response body.
Notes
- The flag is informational at this stage — it records vendor-fulfillment intent on the product record. Fulfillment routing rules that act on this flag are managed separately.
- The flag applies to master SKUs and variant SKUs independently.
