Overview
Extra costs on a Production Run or Work Order live in two separate, independent sections:
Assembly costs (under the COGS tab) — conversion costs that roll into the produced item's COGS. Each line has a Memo, Quantity, and Unit Price; the Line Total feeds into landed cost.
Document charges (under the Charges tab) — setup, tooling, or rush fees billed on the manufacturing document. These do not affect COGS. Same simple line format (Memo, Quantity, Unit Price, Line Total).
Where to find the controls
- Open the Production Run or Work Order.
- To affect COGS, go to the COGS tab (on a Production Run, the Costs tab) and add a line under Assembly costs.
- To bill the co-manufacturer without touching COGS, go to the Charges tab (on a Production Run, the Costs tab) and add a line under Document charges.
- If a charge needs to do both — increase COGS and appear on the document — add it as a separate line in each section. There's no single line that does both at once.
Tips
- Use Document charges for pass-through charges (rush fees, tooling) you bill to the co-manufacturer but don't want inflating COGS.
- Use Assembly costs for conversion costs that should affect inventory valuation but aren't itemized on the document.
- To get a charge into both places, add it once in each section — the two totals are entered and tracked independently, not split from one shared amount.
