The Luminous MCP server now supports a one-click OAuth connection. Each user authorizes their own Claude session using their existing Luminous login — no API token to generate, copy, or store.

Who can connect? Any user with an admin account in Luminous can connect their own Claude session. You do not need to be the account Owner.

Step 1 — Open API Tokens in Luminous

In Luminous, go to Settings → API Tokens.

Step 2 — Open the MCP connector dialog

Click Add MCP Server (top-right of the page). A dialog will appear with the Luminous MCP server URL. Click Copy to copy it.

The URL is the same for every user: https://mcp.joinluminous.com/mcp. Unlike the old token-based URL, this URL does not carry any credentials — your identity comes from signing in during the next step.

Step 3 — Add the connector in Claude

  1. In Claude Desktop or Claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors (sometimes listed under Organization Settings → Connectors).
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the Luminous MCP server URL and click Connect.

Step 4 — Sign in and approve

Claude will open the Luminous authorization screen:

  1. Sign in with your Luminous admin account if prompted.
  2. Review the list of permissions Claude is requesting (e.g., "View your products, orders, inventory and other data").
  3. Choose the workspace you want to connect.
  4. Click Allow.

You will be redirected back to Claude. Luminous tools will now appear in your Claude session.

What permissions does Claude get?

Claude acts as you — it has access to the same data and actions your Luminous admin account has, no more. The consent screen shows the specific permission scopes requested:

ScopeWhat it covers
View your products, orders, inventory and other dataRead-only access
Create and update records on your behalfWrite access
Access customer contact details (names, emails, addresses)Customer PII

Revoking a connection

To disconnect Claude from your Luminous account, go to Claude's Settings → Connectors and remove the Luminous connector. The authorization is immediately inactive.

Frequently asked questions

Can multiple people on my team each connect their own Claude account? Yes. Each admin user connects independently using their own Luminous login. Connections are individual — one person revoking their access does not affect others.

Do I still need an API token? No. The OAuth flow replaces the token-based setup for Claude connections. Existing API tokens for other integrations (scripts, automations, etc.) continue to work exactly as before.

I'm getting "You don't have an administrator workspace to connect." API access via the MCP server requires an admin account in Luminous. If your account is not an admin, ask an administrator at your organization to update your role.

The Luminous tools disappeared from Claude. Your session may have expired. Go to Claude's Connectors settings and reconnect — the OAuth flow will refresh your credentials without you needing to return to Luminous first.

I was using the old token-based URL — do I need to switch? The old token-based setup continues to work. However, the OAuth connector is now the recommended approach: it is scoped to your individual permissions and does not require managing a secret URL.
