Cloning a Production Run
If you run the same production configuration regularly — same co-manufacturer, warehouses, SKUs, and Work Order structure — you can clone an existing Production Run rather than rebuilding it each time.
What gets copied
| Copied | Not copied |
|---|---|
| Run name, notes, expected completion date | Completion / production data |
| Production and destination warehouses | Assembly orders and receiving reports |
| Vendor (co-manufacturer) | Existing shipments |
| Tags | QuickBooks / Xero sync data |
| Custom field values | Status history |
| Payment terms | |
| All linked Work Orders (SKU, BOM, planned qty, warehouses, vendor, notes) |
The cloned run and all its Work Orders always start in Draft status and receive new run/work-order numbers.
Steps
- Go to Inventory → Work Orders and open the Production Runs tab.
- Click the ⋮ menu on the run and choose Clone Run (or open the run and click Clone in the header).
- You'll see "Production run cloned as PB-XXXX-XXXX" and the new run opens in Draft.
- Adjust names, dates, and quantities, then change the status to Planned when ready.
Notes
- Cloning does not re-emit cost rules. Once you adjust the clone to Draft and save, cost rules will be calculated fresh based on the new run's vendor and warehouse settings.
- If the source run has Work Orders in completed or in-progress states, all cloned Work Orders reset to Draft — no completion data carries over.
- You can clone a run in any status (Draft, Planned, In Progress, Completed, or Cancelled).
- Cost rules are calculated fresh for the cloned run based on its own vendor and warehouse settings.
