The short answer

There is currently no bulk-import path for the Default Receiving Bin field. The SKU import template does not include a Default Receiving Bin column, and no other import sheet accepts per-SKU receiving bin assignments. The only way to set or change it for individual SKUs is one at a time through the Edit SKU form (see How to Set Default Receiving Bins for step-by-step instructions).

Best alternative: set a Default Receiving Location on each warehouse

If every SKU in a given warehouse should land in the same bin, you can set that bin once at the warehouse level instead of on every SKU individually. When a SKU does not have its own Default Receiving Bin assigned, Luminous falls back to the warehouse's Default Receiving Location when generating a receiving report. New SKUs are also pre-filled with this warehouse default automatically.

Steps:

  1. Go to Manage → Locations and click Manage to open the Warehouses list.
  2. Find the warehouse you want to configure, click its three-dot menu, and choose Edit warehouse to open its settings.
  3. Locate the Default Receiving Location field and select the bin you want to use as the fallback.
  4. Click Save changes.

Repeat for each warehouse as needed. All SKUs in that warehouse that do not have an explicit Default Receiving Bin will now automatically route to the bin you selected.

When you do need per-SKU overrides

If different SKUs within the same warehouse should land in different bins, you must update each SKU individually:

  1. Go to Inventory → SKUs.
  2. Click the three-dot menu on the SKU row and choose Edit SKU.
  3. On the Product Information tab, scroll to the Default Receiving Bin field and choose the correct bin.
  4. Click Save.
