Overview

The Reroute Fulfillment Orders tool lets you review and override the system-assigned Fulfillment Priority List for multiple fulfillment orders at once — before they are released and pushed downstream. Use it when automations have routed orders correctly for most cases but edge cases (stock-outs, late shipments, carrier changes) require a human review pass before releasing to ShipStation or another OMS.

How It Works (Step-by-Step)

1. Set your ship-by dates.
Before running a reroute review, ensure ship-by dates are populated on your fulfillment orders. These are typically set via a mini-app or automation and are used to filter and prioritize which orders need review.

2. Open the Fulfillment Orders Grid.
Navigate to Operations > Fulfillment Orders from the main menu to open the Fulfillment Order Grid.

3. Filter by Ship Date.
Use the Ship Date column to filter orders to the batch you want to review — for example, today's orders that are scheduled to auto-release.

4. Select the orders to review.
Select one or more fulfillment orders from the grid that require a routing check before release.

5. Open the Reroute action.
With orders selected, open the Actions menu and choose Reroute Fulfillment Orders.

6. Review the current Fulfillment Priority List assignments.
The tool displays each selected fulfillment order along with its currently assigned Fulfillment Priority List — this is where the system plans to route and release the order. Review each entry to confirm it matches your intended fulfillment strategy.

7. Override as needed.
For any order where the system-assigned priority list is incorrect — due to stock-outs, urgency, carrier changes, or other edge cases — select the correct Fulfillment Priority List from the dropdown to override it.

8. Click Review, then Finish.
Once all overrides are applied, click Review to confirm your changes across all selected orders. When ready, click Finish. Luminous will regenerate all affected Fulfillment Orders in a background job, applying the updated priority lists automatically.

9. Push to ShipStation (or your OMS).
After the job completes, proceed to push the regenerated Fulfillment Orders to ShipStation or your connected fulfillment channel as normal.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Run this before auto-release. The Reroute tool is most effective as a pre-release checkpoint — catch routing issues before Fulfillment Orders are pushed downstream, not after.
  • Filter first. Narrowing the grid by Ship Date (or a saved custom filter) before selecting orders keeps the review panel focused and manageable, especially for high-volume operations.
  • Use it for edge cases, not routine routing. Automations handle the majority of routing decisions. Reserve the Reroute tool for the edge cases automations can't predict: unexpected stock-outs, last-minute carrier switches, split-ship decisions, or urgency overrides.
  • Don't confuse Priority List changes with manual FO edits. Changing the Fulfillment Priority List in the Reroute tool and clicking Finish is sufficient — Luminous regenerates the FOs automatically. You do not need to manually delete and recreate Fulfillment Orders.
  • Verify stock before overriding. If you're rerouting because a warehouse is low on inventory, confirm stock levels in the Inventory module before selecting an alternative Priority List.

FAQs and Troubleshooting

Q: Where do I find the Reroute Fulfillment Orders option?
Select one or more orders in the Fulfillment Order Grid, open the Actions menu, and choose Reroute Fulfillment Orders.

Q: What happens to existing Fulfillment Orders when I click Finish?
Luminous deletes and regenerates the Fulfillment Orders for all affected fulfillment orders in a background job, applying the updated Fulfillment Priority Lists. You do not need to take any manual steps to delete or recreate them.

Q: Can I reroute orders that have already been pushed to ShipStation?
The Reroute tool is intended for orders that have not yet been pushed downstream. Rerouting an order that has already been pushed to ShipStation may cause discrepancies. Contact support if you need to reroute an order that is already in ShipStation.

Q: What if I don't see a Fulfillment Priority List I need in the dropdown?
Priority Lists must be created in advance under Operations → Operations Admin → Fulfillment Priority Lists. If the list you need doesn't exist, create it there before running the reroute review.

Q: Can automations and the Reroute tool be used together?
Yes — and this is the intended workflow. Automations handle routing for the majority of orders automatically. The Reroute tool gives your team a way to manually correct the remaining edge cases before release.

Q: Why does my Fulfillment Order look the same after I clicked Finish?
The FO regeneration runs as a background job. Wait a few moments and refresh the page. If the FOs still appear unchanged, confirm that you clicked Finish (not just Review) and that the fulfillment orders were in an unreleased state.
